Data Engineer Things Newsletter #10
Global meetups. Volunteer and sponsorship opportunities. Something to read.
Hello there,
Happy New Year! I hope your 2024 is off to a great start.
I took a break from content creation during the holiday to recharge, and now I am feeling very excited to go back to writing again. The DET volunteers and I met a few times to brainstorm new community activities and I can’t wait to share some of them with you in this newsletter. Read on!
🌟 Global DET Meetup
The purpose of DET has always been to help the data engineering community learn and connect. While many learning resources and conferences are available online, I am still a believer in the value of in-person connections because they have made a huge impact on my own career.
In 2023, we co-hosted a few in-person meetups in the Bay Area and also organized our first DET Meetup in London (thanks to Hugo Lu and Tim Webster)… and folks are asking for more! Therefore, we decided to launch DET Meetup worldwide! 🚀
Here are the regional DET Meetup Chapters that you can sign up today:
Data Engineer Things London Meetup (The next meetup event is happening on Feb 28. Grab your ticket here.)
Don’t see your city on the list? Leave a comment to let us know. We will expand to more regions in 2024 based on interests.
🙋🏻 Volunteers and Sponsors Needed
We would like to make DET a more engaging community in 2024 and we are looking for volunteers to help organize community programs and events: meetups, book clubs, mentorship programs, open-source DE projects, blog reviewing, and more. It’s a good way to meet people in the community and learn too.
In addition, we are looking for sponsors for the following DET Meetup Chapters: Bay Area, Toronto, India, London, and other potential locations.
